A person is always in command
Machines carry out tasks; people set the rules and remain accountable. We will not build a system designed to remove a human from that role, and this is not negotiable commercially.
Company · Human Rights
Building autonomous systems for defence carries a direct responsibility to think about how they could be used, and by whom. This sets out our position, the checks we apply, and the limits we will not move.
Why This Page Exists
A company building autonomous systems cannot treat human rights as a procurement formality. The technology we develop can reduce risk to people — that is the point of it — but the same capability, misapplied or supplied to the wrong party, could do the opposite.
We would rather state our limits publicly, before commercial pressure makes them inconvenient, than discover them under it.
Our Commitments
Machines carry out tasks; people set the rules and remain accountable. We will not build a system designed to remove a human from that role, and this is not negotiable commercially.
Before we engage, we assess what a system would be used for and by whom, alongside sanctions and export-control screening. Any one of these can stop the engagement.
Where we judge that a party is unable or unwilling to use a system lawfully and responsibly, we decline — and we accept the commercial cost of that.
We operate within international humanitarian law obligations as they apply through the jurisdictions and customers we work with.
Our systems record what they did and why, so decisions can be reconstructed and someone can be answerable for them.
We expect fair, lawful and safe employment throughout our own operations and our supply chain.
Supply Chain
Our supply chain is currently small, which makes it practical to know who we buy from and to ask directly rather than rely on attestations alone.
If you believe a Rewind Dynamics system, supplier or engagement raises a human rights concern, write to ethics@rewinddynamics.com. Concerns raised in good faith are taken seriously and will not be met with retaliation. This statement describes our position and current practice; it will be formalised and expanded as the company grows.
Raise A Concern
We would rather hear it from you than not hear it at all.
