How It Works

Our autonomy
architecture.

A clear look at how our systems are built to think and act — the loop they run, the layers that make them work, and the discipline behind them. We keep the specifics for our partners; the approach we're glad to share.

The Core Loop

Sense · Decide · Act.

Every one of our systems runs the same loop, many times a second: take in the world, decide what to do, and act — then do it again. Getting that loop fast, reliable and safe is the heart of the work.

§ 01 / LOOP
01

Sense

Cameras and sensors gather information about the surroundings.

02

Understand

That data is fused into a dependable picture the system can act on.

03

Decide

The autonomy core chooses an action from the mission and the situation.

04

Act

The platform moves or responds — safely, in real time — and the loop repeats.

Architecture

A layered, modular stack.

We build the autonomy as clean, separable layers. Each can be tested and improved on its own — and because the layers are shared, an improvement made for one platform can benefit the others.

Modularity also means our systems are built to integrate, not to lock anyone in — designed to fit alongside existing platforms and command arrangements.

The Building Blocks

What goes into
the autonomy.

In plain terms, these are the parts that work together to make a platform autonomous. We engineer each of them, and how they fit.

§ 02 / BLOCKS
01

Navigation

Knowing where the system is and finding its way — including when satellite signals are unreliable.

02

Perception

Turning camera and sensor data into a clear, trustworthy view of what's around the system.

03

Sensor Fusion

Combining several sensors into one picture that's more reliable than any single one alone.

04

Planning

Working out a sensible course of action, and re-planning as the situation changes.

05

Control

Keeping the platform stable and making it do precisely what's asked — steering, flight, balance.

06

Edge AI

Running the intelligence on the platform itself, so it stays effective without a constant link.

How We Develop

Prove it in software first.

Much of our progress happens in simulation. Testing ideas in software is faster, safer and cheaper than testing them in the field — so we catch problems on screen, then move to hardware once the software is sound.

  • SimulateTry things in software and repeat them as often as needed.
  • Test on hardwareMove to real devices once the software holds up.
  • Record & assessKeep records of every run and assess them honestly — what went right, what went wrong — the idea behind our name.
Test · Record · ReviewMethod

Responsibility

People stay in command.

Autonomy should be dependable and accountable. Machines carry out tasks; people set the rules and stay responsible. We build for supervision, safety and review from the very first line of code.

§ 03 / TRUST
01

Human Oversight

Designed so a person can supervise and step in at any time.

02

Safety First

Clear limits and safe behaviour built in, not bolted on.

03

Security

Sound security engineering as a default across the stack.

04

Reviewable

Records kept so decisions can be understood after the fact.

05

Assessment

After every run we assess honestly — what went right, what went wrong, and why — and act on it.
